Frequently Asked

Questions

WHAT AGES IS PONY CLUB FOR?  Pony Club is for

ages 6 - 25 years, although in recent years a

Horse Masters program was developed for adults

who wanted to learn through pony club.

WHAT COSTS ARE ASSOCIATED WITH PONY CLUB?

For the 2019 year the cost of Pony Club is $160 to

Manitoba Pony Club, and $50 operating fee to

Prairie Breeze Stables. Members are also required

to have a Manitoba Horse Council Membership

which costs approx. $50 for a youth membership.

WHEN DOES PONY CLUB MEET? Our club has regular

meetings every other Sunday from 1:00 - 4:00 pm

through out the year. We do not expect everyone

to be able to attend all meetings!

WHAT EQUIPMENT DOES MY CHILD NEED? For Pony Club please make sure that your child has a good pair of paddock boots (black or brown) and a pair of half chaps (black or brown) and most importantly a properly fitted helmet (SEI/ASTM Certified). Riding breeches can be purchased at may local stores, and we have a supply of used clothing that other members have grown out of that is available to everyone. Other equipment needed will include a grooming kit, although members may use the grooming tools owned by the barn until they are able to get a kit together.

WHAT IS TESTING AND HOW DOES IT WORK? Members are able to test each level within Pony Club. Each level includes a written test, a practical stable management test and a riding test. Each level has required criteria that the member must meet in order to pass. Members are encouraged to progress at their own speed, and testing is NOT mandatory.
